100% perfect- no other knife compares
We process alot of wild game. First time we tried the pirantas was about 5 years ago on a moose and a carabou. By the end of the day, we were worshipping havalon.
We love them so much that we have several and when we have a new hunter its inevitable that they will try to take my havalon.
I recently picked up the hot pink knife, and have noticed the guys are a little more self conscious using it (mostly because i point out how pretty it is).
Notice i said the color almost makes it guy proof - but its not a reliable method of theft resistance, but add a little girl shaming in with the color and you shouldnt have to worry much.

Great knife. I like the color it is easy to find when you can not remember where you put it. Stays sharp a long long time. Changing the blade could not be easer. Great product.

Good for more than skinning
I bought this product for my aging father to replace his old scalpel for cutting bull calves on our 100+ head cattle ranch. He and I both enjoy the large, gripped handle, which makes it easier and safer to use when working around 600 pound animals. We also appreciate the blaze Orange handle, as this feature makes it hard to misplace on the working shed workbench. Ease of blade change is also a nice feature for us, as being good cattlemen with concern for the overall well being of our livestock we change the blade every time we work a group of calves. Overall, we are both very pleased.

SLOW DOWN and BE CAREFUL with this BadBoy!
On the recommendation of many veteran hunters i purchased this knife to have in my kill kit. Until I got my first deer Id been practicing working with this knife on Doves Id occasionally get with AirRifle. In 2015 got my first deer and the Piranta was pretty great. Skinning process seemed pretty darned easy. I even inadvertantly severed the shoulder from its connection to body before Id finished skinning that arm. What a difficult time-waister trying to skin a floppity barely-connected arm. Later on during the deboning process I messed-up (was running on 3hrs sleep) and sliced the index figure of my opposite hand pretty deep. Thankfully with the Piranta it was a clean cut and relatively easy to patch-up, put a new set of gloves on, and slow-down and keep going. The 2 big things I want the reader to take away from reading this review are SLOW DOWN! These are scalpels, they are seriously sharp, one lapse in caution can result in a bloody mess you dont wanna have to deal with... all alone, in the forest, in the middle of the night. The only things on my deer I didnt use the Piranta for were cutting off the backstraps, the brisket, and removing the skull from vertebrae. For those tasks I used a traditional fixed blade since they are deeper cuts where you drag the knife along the sides of bone as a guide. I didnt want to mess-up the scalpel blade by scraping it against the bones and/or apply too much force to it and snap it. Plus I wanted one long contiguous cut for those meats so used a 5 fixed blade there. And I know you can remove a skull with a Piranta, but I was exhausted and didnt remember the trick to how you do it, so I reached for my lil backpack axe instead, hehe.

I have heard about these knives for the past few years and decided to finally pick one up after I was drawn for Moose ( Piranta Bolt with #60A blade ). I used the knife on both Bulls we shot and I was extremely impressed . I have not used a better knife! I have read that the blades will easily do a couple large animals and still have a sharp edge, hard to believe that especially when your doing a moose , moose are tough on any blade . I ended up useing 2 blades on each animal and I sure didnt mind because they worked great .I have used other knives that had replacement blades and they honestly dont compare . Buy one , you wont regret it !

Love this knife. Well built, works great
I purchased this knife after seeing Steven Rinella use one on his show. I have couldnt be happier with the knife. I have used it on Deer, Squirrel and even little fluffy bunnies. I have even used it to help get the red meat off larger catfish fillets. I have been so thrilled, I have given a few for presents to family members.

Good enough for aligators
Used a Piranta last year to skin out an aligator tail. The hide is about as tough as you will encounter. Never broke a blade and did the 5 ft tail with one blade.

revolutionizing field game processing
Great knife. I have a couple of them. I keep one in my pocket at all times. I use it for everything from opening boxes and packages to skinning, gutting, and deboning game. Havalons customer service is top notch. I had a little trouble with my first knife that I purchased at a sportsmans expo. When I contacted Havalon they promptly replaced the knife. In todays economy where Customer Service is almost non-existant once they have your money; Havalon stands hands and shoulders above the rest

I used this knife to help two friends skin and field buther a 71 1/2 inch bull moose in Alaska. Knife performance was so outstanding that my friends asked to use it. I used only one 60xt blade to do my share of the skinning and buthchering and the blade still had enough edge to do some cutting and packaging of the meat before easily changing to a new one. I look forward to using the knife on white tail this fall.

This will be your favorite knife!
I saw my hunting buddy use one of these last year and was really impressed. I finally got off my duff and ordered one this past week and I am so glad I didnt wait any longer. I used it on an archery buck just yesterday and can testify to the fact that it sure is crazy sharp. I have never used a sharper instrument period and I buy good knives. I used it easily on all aspects of field dressing including the outside organ removal, intestine tract cutting, and cavity incision. I stopped at the brisket, but was easily able to use it to get into the upper cavity to remove everything from the windpipe down and it was done (quickest I have probably ever done this). Skinning was just as easy if not easier and the hide practically peeled off using this knife. I thought maybe the skin, fat, or hair would dull this first blade after field dressing and skinning, but it was still sharp! Folks I am as cynical as the next guy when it comes to new hunting products replacing my time honored reliable items, but I wish I had gotten one of these Pirantas a long time ago. Just be careful and watch what you do as this is so sharp I would hate to see how you could injure yourself with this.

Used this on an elk hunt in Colorado 2 weeks ago. I am used to having to stop and sharpen my knife 3-4 times while cutting up an elk. Made it through a cow elk and still had a good edge on it without any maintenance.

Moose will never know you skinned him!!!
Great knife for skinning the larger game as well as the small due the sharpness of the surgical quality steel. You can skin a Moose or a deer so much more easily w/out having to use a sharpening steel every so often.

ive used the original piranta on quite a few animals and its performed great. recently i let my wife use it while butchering her spring bear and it became clear i was not getting it back. so i ordered a bolt, as the slightly larger grip looked like it might fit my hand well, and it did. recently used it on a fall bear, performed like ive come to expect from my havalon and was slightly more comfortable in my hand than the original piranta.

I carry three different knives every day, all for different purposes. The Havalon is tops because it fills a notch the others cant. However, the screws fall out so I have had to epoxy every single one in permanently. Good luck finding a screwdriver bit small enough! The bit should be included with the knife especially when one considers how expensive the knife is.

Ive had the Bolt for a few months and have cleaned three turkeys with it. It is very similar to the EDGE, but with a slightly more ergonomic handle. Mine works well with #60A, 60XT, and 22 blades.

The last knife youll ever need for game
I use this knife for just about everything and it handles it all like a champ. The only thing I had trouble with is the 3rd pin from the bottom that holds the two halves of the frame together. When I closed the knife, the blade would hit the pin leaving a nick in the edge. All I had to do is remove that pin and it solved my problem.

My wife bought this knife for me, for Christmas this year. We had 5 pigs, and I cleaned 3 (fully skinned and quartered) on one blade. My cousin used 2 buck knives to clean 2. Not to mention blades are thin enough to cut through the spine to dehead all three. Best knife ever. When I first got it, I was worried about cleaning an animal due to how sharp it really is, but 3 pigs in, you still have to apply very minimal pressure causing more knife control. Now Im asking for the other knives Havalon has to offer.

This one knife has replaced 5-6 other knives in my pack. That means less weight for me to carry and the potential for me to downsize my pack. At 53 every ounce counts, so this knife is a back saver.

The product came very quickly. Love knife easy to open ease of changing blades. This is not a prying knife but a skinning knife. Havent used it to clean deer or hogs yet but have used it on fish. If you want a heavy knife to pry with this is not your knife . Anything else works well. Only thing wrong with this knife is the screws on it keep getting loose. Yet need tighten about every week Im just hoping putting super glue in screws when I put it in works

I have watched a hunting guide skin a bear with another style Havalon knife that really impressed me. When the Piranta-Bolt came available I decided I needed one for field dressing/processing deer and small game. I like the feel, color and always a sharp blade available that is easy to change if needed. My other knives will now stay home

During deer season I guide hunts. I depend on a sharp knife that will last through several seasons and field dressings. The Havalon is durable and convienent when field dressing the harvested animal. I do not have time to stop and sharpen blades so this knife is exactly what I have been looking for.

Just purchased this knife and have been very impressed. I hate sharpening knives and this one comes scary sharp out of the box. Both the knives and blades are very affordable, so I dont have to worry about sharpening a knife again.
The bright green is a great color too and very visible.
